Dentures in Schroon Lake, NY
Losing teeth, whether one, several, or all of them, affects more than just your appearance. It can make eating difficult, change the way you speak, and take a real toll on your confidence. At Dentist ADK, we offer both full and partial denture solutions designed to restore your smile and your quality of life.
Full Dentures
Full dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth and are custom-made to fit the unique shape of your mouth. Dr. Levey takes care to ensure your dentures look natural and feel as comfortable as possible, so you can eat, speak, and smile with confidence. Lower full dentures are notoriously very hard to chew with and wear, so be sure to ask Dr. Levey about implant supported dentures.
Partial Dentures
If you still have some healthy natural teeth, a partial denture may be the right fit. Partials are designed to fill in the gaps left by missing teeth while blending seamlessly with your existing smile. They’re removable, easy to care for, and a cost-effective way to restore function and appearance. Dr. Levey and Dentist ADK can now offer partial dentures with traditional metal clasps, but also with flexible and clear clasps as well!
Other Treatments to Consider
Depending on your situation, these options may also be worth discussing with Dr. Levey:
- Dental Implants (for a more stable and retentive option)
- Implant-Supported Dentures using locator attachments which can help your denture feel more stable and retentive
Frequently Asked Questions
The process typically involves a few appointments over about 2 +/- weeks (sometimes as few as 2 appointments, plus adjustment appointments). Dr. Levey will take highly accurate digital scans using a special 3D camera (not the traditional molds that we used to have to use) and work with a dental lab to create your custom dentures, and make any necessary adjustments to ensure a proper fit.
Yes. Modern dentures are designed to closely resemble natural teeth and gum tissue. Dr. Levey pays close attention to appearance so your dentures complement your face and look like your own smile.
Dentures should be cleaned daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner, not regular toothpaste, which can be too abrasive. Remove them at night to give your gum tissue a chance to rest.
New dentures almost always require an adjustment period on your part and by Dr. Levey, but most patients are able to adjust. Dentures do not chew with nearly the same efficiency as your natural teeth, but usually a new, well fitted denture will allow you to chew much better than with missing teeth or an old/poorly fitting denture. Dr. Levey will guide you through the transition and answer any questions along the way.
Not really a good question, because as your gums and bone remodels, your denture will almost always become loose over time.
So it is normal for dentures to need adjustments over time as your mouth changes. Never try to adjust them yourself; home-made
denture relines or adjustments rarely end well…..
